Flexible Patterning of Complex Micro Structures using Adaptive Embossing Technology

Welcome to the FlexPAET project website

The FlexPAET project is a European research consortium aiming at enhancing the use of LED as main source of light for a range of low price, energy saving and high efficient lighting products. Our main goal is to develop a manufacturing process to replicate micro-structures in large area substrates.

Christoph Baum has studied mechanical engineering in Aachen (Germany), Málaga (Spain), and Beijing (China), majoring in design and development. In addition to his graduation at the RWTH-Aachen he received his master’s degree at the Tsinghua University, China. In September 2006, Christoph Baum started his career as research assistant in the Production Machines department at the Fraunhofer IPT. He directs research projects in the field of precision machining and highly dynamic machine systems. Since July 2007 he has been responsible for the Centre for Precision and Micro Technology business unit at the Fraunhofer IPT. (more…)

22/04/10 - Microscopic structures to allow cheaper LCD screens

FlexPAET project to overcome limitations on industrial production of low price, energy saving and high efficient lighting products by increasing the use of LEDs.

A consortium formed by 13 research institutes and companies around Europe is working on a new method to allow the mass production of large optical elements based on microscopic geometries –a research which can enhance the use of LEDs (Lighting Emitting Diode) in all sort of light products and allow the development of cheaper LCD screens.
